Nabahat Lotia launched her first book, and the first of its kind in the country, Pottery Traditions of Pakistan recently, at a grand launch event held at Mohatta Palace. The event was well-attended by the art fraternity and the literati of the city.
The elegant event opened with Nusrat Khwaja welcoming the guests and introducing the four speakers – the author, Nabahat Lotia, architect Tariq Qaiser, art critic Niilofur Farrukh, and writer Rumana Hussain.
The first to speak was the author who traced her journey that led to the writing of the book, and shared her learnings during her research travelling through rural Pakistan through a visual presentation.
Niilofur appreciated the massive effort that went into producing such a well-researched volume, especially appreciating the last chapter on women potters. Tariq appreciated the beautiful book and mentioned that Nabahat had been his teacher. Rumana read out the foreword she has written in the book.
