Finally a serial that discusses a taboo subject – cross-dressing. An occurrence certainly a part of our society but one that is kept a secret behind closed doors. Many an unsuspecting girl, with dreams in her eyes, gets hitched to the tall, dark and handsome man only to realise what lies beneath is a life of horror. The veneer was very impressive but the reality very bitter. He’s a cross-dresser – a woman in a man’s body, she finds out when its too late… or is it? Of course, she can call off the relationship but rarely does she take that step for the family honour is at stake!?
Such is the reality of life, and yes it happens around us quite often. HUM TV’s latest drama serial also discusses the same – Sameer is a successful businessman by day and a diva by night!
The story of HUM TV’s latest play Ishq Zahe Naseeb is an intertwined story of Gohar, a moderate girl belonging to a mediocre household, her love interest Kashif, a sole bread-earner of his family and the only brother to three sisters and her sister’s boss Sameer, an introvert with a very strange personality. With the responsibility of three sisters, Kashif is unable to send a marriage proposal for Gohar, but the scenario changes when Gohar’s aunt sends her son’s proposal for her and she and Kashif decide to marry in secret.
The story takes an interesting turn when Gohar starts nursing Sameer’s stepmother and discovers that the person who runs a successful business has a split personality disorder. Everyday at 6:00 in the evening, Sameer dresses up as a girl, puts on makeup and talks to himself till morning. On the other hand, the day Gohar and Kashif were supposed to meet at the marriage registrar’s office, they both realized the burden and responsibilities they carry on their shoulders and decide not to show up without speaking to each other, each feeling the guilt of betraying the other.
