Renowned Architect Asad I.A. Khan was elected as Chairman of The Pakistan Council of Architects & Town Planners (PCATP) on February 25, 2017, in a closely fought contest with Architect Ejaz A. Qadri. Over 3,000 registered Architects & Town Planners from across the country were eligible to cast their vote for selecting the Chairman for a tenure of 2 years.
Asad I.A. Khan served as Managing Director of NESPAK from 2009 – 2014, being the first Architect to head the country’s largest multi-disciplinary organization.After serving NESPAK for 30 years, he is now managing his own firm, Asad I.A. Khan & Associates (AIAK). Asad, has also served on the board of AkzoNobel Pakistan andhas represented Pakistan internationally in Golf, currently serving as the elected President of the Sind Golf Association (SGA).
As a leading Architect of the country, he designed the Prime Minister House, Prime Minister Secretariat, the Ufone tower, Islamabad Stock Exchange, Karachi Expo Centre and the Arabian Sea Country Club.
Asadsucceeds previous PCATP Chairman, Sikander Hayat Khan,who has completed 2 terms of 2 years each. PCATP was established in 1983 by an act of Parliament in line with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). The first chairman was the country’s first female Architect Mrs. Yasmin Lari and other prominent Chairmen were ZaighamJaffery, MisbahNajmi, Shahab Ghani, and Mrs. Shama Usman.
