Dawood Global Foundation hosted a fundraising event, Girl’s Night Out – Despacito where 100 millennial and professional women gathered for networking and to support the award-winning Educate a Girl programme to vocationally train 1 million girls globally in partnership with Facebook. GNO is held annually as a night to educate, inspire and celebrate. 100% proceeds for this year’s event went for scholarships for deserving girls in Lahore.

Educate a Girl has educated 1,000 girls in Karachi (Pakistan), 1250 girls in Lagos (Nigeria) and is currently fundraising for Lahore (Pakistan), Casablanca (Morocco) and Istanbul (Turkey). It has been recognized by the World Bank as top 2% of women-led initiatives in the MENA region.

The event was also an opportunity for young women entrepreneurs across the nation to showcase their artisan initiatives at the #GNODespacito Creative Women of Vision showcase. Three women spotlighted this year included Rubina Kouser from Zed Mars, Anjum Rana from tribal Truck art and Sara from Sara’s Henna.

Also, spotted in the audience were Amin Gulgee, Hasan Rizvi, Tara Uzra Dawood, Moneeza Butt, Sumar Taher Khan, Asma Mohsin, Nighat Feroz, Asma Yousuf,  and many others.
