Caltex Cricket Extravaganza concludes with exciting finale

Karachi’s Iqra University overcame Lahore’s Government College University in a nail-biting final to win the inaugural Caltex Cricket Extravaganza on the last ball of the match here at the Aleem Dar Academy Cricket Ground on Wednesday.

A sizeable crowd witnessed an enthralling finale which turned out be a perfect climax for the Caltex T20 contest that featured top universities and colleges from three major cities of the country.

Danish Aziz hit a match-winning 54 but the real hero for Iqra University was Abdul Moiz who hit a last-ball six to help his team chase down a tough-looking victory target of 198 runs.

Mr. Muhammad Najam Shamsuddin, Country Chairman & Area Business Manager, Chevron Pakistan Lubricants (Private) Limited, gave away prizes to the winning teams at an impressive closing ceremony which marked the end of the tournament. Also present at the occasion was Aleem Dar, one of the world’s most respected cricket umpires.

Mr. Shamsuddin hailed the players for their superb performances during the tournament and also reiterated his company’s commitment towards the promotion of sports in Pakistan. “Chevron Pakistan Lubricants have a long-term commitment in the country and we will continue playing a role in promoting healthy activities like the Caltex Cricket Extravaganza,” he commented.

Leading educational institutions from all over Pakistan featured in the Caltex Twenty20 Cricket extravaganza which rolled into action simultaneously in various cities of the country April 4.

Teams winning city finals travelled to Lahore to play the grand finals between 11th & 12th April 2017.

The Grand Finals were played between City Winners from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad with the title match held on 12th April.
